Founded in 1973, Co-operative Housing Ireland (formerly NABCO) is the central association for housing co-operatives in Ireland.  The Association includes non-for-profit local and district, whether rental or owner occupied, housing co-operatives.  Co-operative Housing Ireland works closely with other social housing partners and governmental institutions.  Its services are undertaken to:

  • Represent the common interests of housing co-operatives in regard to public policies, legislation, and resources;
  • Seek to expand the contribution ofco-operative housing towards the relief of national housing needs;
  • Arrange access to building land, planning, financing and construction of new projects;
  • Provide information, advice, guidance, education and training;
  • Promote proper management standards; provide support services and co-ordinate the organization of the Co-op Housing Movement.
